Assistant Director of Information Technology
Job Summary:
BB&N School, a coed day school in Cambridge, MA with four campuses and 1,000 students in grades pK-12, has an opening for an assistant director of information technology. We seek an aspiring leader excited by the possibility of providing strategic and operational management to meet the diverse technology needs of a premier independent school. This manager will understand the complex dynamics of planning, building, and supporting the IT needs of students, teachers, and administrators. The position reports to the director of information technology, and while it is based out of our Watertown office building, the assistant director will manage technology impacting all campuses. This position works normal school hours and occasional evening or weekend hours as needed. This is a full-time (40 hour work week) exempt position. Start date is flexible.
Responsibilities:
- Research, implement, manage, and maintain a variety of complex IT systems to provide efficiencies of operation, security of systems, redundancy, robustness, and functional productivity.
- Continue to build an IT department focused on outstanding customer service. Craft and deliver efforts that bring continuous improvement to the quality of customer service for teachers, staff, and students.
- Manage internal and outsourced projects including implementation of new systems and software.
- As needed, support end-users with tier 1 needs in a mixed platform environment.
- Support technology personnel by providing tier 2 and tier 3 support as needed.
- Install and manage a vulnerability scanning system for internal and external penetration testing.
- Manage a Windows software update server (WSUS) to update on-premises servers and clients.
- Assist with configuration and management of a Cisco Identity Services Engine NAC.
- Assist with our MDM solution.
- Manage the file and account monitoring security system.
- Manage the antivirus and antimalware systems.
- Regularly review system logs and alerts to interpret events needing remediation.
- Manage and support the audio-visual needs of school events.
- Support the use of laptops for Upper School exam needs.
- Create and maintain documentation of applications and systems.
- Assist in supporting Cisco switches, Windows/Apple servers, VMware, VEEAM, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Experience and Abilities:
- Experience with Active Directory, PowerShell, Windows servers, and Event Logs.
- Experience with IT security products including NAC, MDM, WSUS, AV, vulnerability scanning, etc.
- Experience deploying and managing both Windows and Apple devices, certificates, automated profile enrollment, scripting, and group policy.
- Experience creating and maintaining user-friendly documentation for complex systems.
- Experience with databases and database administration.
- Experience working as a collaborative team member.
- Experience with Google Apps, FileMaker, Adobe, and Mac OS.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize complex project-oriented work.
- Ability and interest to teach others how to solve problems in a collaborative friendly manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
