Assistant Director of Instructional Design and Technology
Essential Functions:
- Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College’s vision, mission and values, and contributes to the development of Online Education.
- Serve as project manager for all major projects in the department
- Actively support and monitor project scope, schedules, and resources.
- Provide direction to assigned project team members.
- Maintain routine communications with senior management and the project teams concerning all aspects of the project including the current status.
- Monitor the completion of project tasks and milestones, making adjustments to assignments and schedules as needed to meet development time and quality parameters.
- Escalate visibility to issues, offer solutions and drive issues to resolution.
- Collaborate with project team members including internal staff in various offices and teams, course developers and instructors, and other third-party organizations, often dispersed geographically.
- Practice superior customer service.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Display respect and civility to all constituencies regardless of method of communication.
- Attend work timely and during the established hours of operation on a regular basis; work additional hours as business necessitates.
- Ability to fluently read, write and understand the English language.
- Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
- Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
- Proficiency for using web-based technologies, including database systems.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills with all constituents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large scale projects with multiple stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices related to effective project management and proven ability to apply the above
- Demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration, and team facilitation skills and ability to think strategically and creatively while offering insight and recommendations.
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate others towards completing tasks, including non-direct reports.
- Ability to prioritize and manage complex and multiple projects with tight deadlines and limited supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Education: Master's degree in business management, instructional design, management information systems, or related field. Relevant job experience may be considered in lieu of master’s degree.
Certification(s):
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience with technology as it relates to education, project management, and supervision.
- Managing multiple projects using proven project management best practices/methodologies.
- Experience and demonstrated competence in working with learning management/online learning platforms.
- Experience at an institution of higher education.
- Familiarity/experience with instructional design, adult learning, and/or content development.
- Project Management Professional certification (PMP)
Employment Requirements:
- Ability to pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment, and on an annual basis, during employment.
- Ability to pass a drug test as a condition of employment, and during employment, and on a random basis or as required if probable cause or reasonable suspicion.
- Occasional travel to national conferences.
- Occasional weekend and/or evening duties.
