Assistant Director of IT for SDM
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent or higher). Five [5] years of full time experience with application design and programming. Business analysis experience. Experience leading teams (i.e. Project Management). Experience leading system/application/program implementations. Experience with software development practices. SQL experience. Relationship database management system experience. Programming experience in an object oriented language. Business intelligence applications report writer experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree or foreign equivalent. Supervisory experience. Additional years of experience performing application design and programming maintenance. Crystal Reports. Project management. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning systems). Experience with standards-based integration technologies. Experience in an academic setting or health care environment. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Assistant Director of IT leads the management of clinical, educational, and assessment systems within the School of Dental Medicine. This position is responsible for business analysis, application design, programming, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation. Collaborating with clients to explore long and short term strategies, is a significant part of this position. The Assistant Director will regularly engage with counterparts to understand their goals and objectives and assist in researching innovative solutions that ensure that operations are more effective and efficient. Part of the University's mission is to provide leadership and growth, the Assistant Director is responsible for supporting employee development, to include mentorship, training, opportunities for career growth, and team collaboration.

Service Delivery: Plan and manage the delivery of high quality information systems services to the School. Prepare project plans, manage resources and ensure effective and timely delivery. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement software testing and production control standards. Provide direction in the acquisition and installation of software, including product and vendor assessment. Provide user train and support. Comply with all software licensing agreements and adherence to University and Governmental regulations, policies and procedures, to include risk mitigation and privacy protection.

Ensure delivery of a suite of highly aligned services. Plan, analyze, design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain custom applications. Design, build and maintain complex data integrations between University systems. Coordinate integrations to help streamline business operations.

Relationship Management: Establish and maintain close working relationships with stakeholders. Explore long and short term strategies for operational needs. Participate in user committees; Assist in feasibility studies, systems design and formulation of recommendations on systems projects. Track industry standards and provide benchmarking information to assist with decision-making. Manage vendor support. Participate in strategic planning and the development of objectives for the Division.

Management: Manage the team responsible for clinical, educational, and assessment systems. Develop and implement appropriate professional development and training programs for direct reports. Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring transparency and communication among the team. Work with employees to create career development.

Professional Development: Participate, as appropriate, in internal and external professional activities,, staying abreast of emerging developments within the field.
