Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Student Information Systems. The Software Professional Services (SPS) team is responsible for supporting mission critical, campus-wide, computer-based applications. These applications include the Student Information System, ImageNow, mySNHU, QAS, Business Objects Web Intelligence, Entrinsik Informer, ServiceNow, Microsoft Office 365, and other small ancillary systems. The support provided by SPS teams includes, but is not limited to, maintenance of existing applications, implementation of new functionality, and system upgrades.

Join the SPS team as our Assistant Director, Student Information Systems (SIS) and be a part of SNHU’s transformation from Ellucian’s Colleague SIS to Banner. This position provides leadership, vision, and direction to a team of subject matter experts responsible for application support of the Student Information System, with a primary focus on application configuration, application security administration, integration support, and user enablement. The Assistant Director, SIS works in close partnership with business and other ITS teams to assist with key initiatives, ensure that the Student Information System is consistently meeting the business needs.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Direct and manage the team responsible for Tier-2 and Tier-3 application support and user enablement for the Student Information Systems

  • Provide subject matter expertise and advanced level SIS application support to all levels of university staff

  • Coach staff to develop knowledge and skills required for success in their roles and to set goals for career progression

  • Work with other ITS teams to effectively coordinate the complex nature of SNHU’s diverse software systems

  • Collaborate with business partners and other ITS teams to provide analysis and input into solutions and to help troubleshoot complex incidents/problems

  • Participate in technology projects with large scope and university-wide impact, including, but not limited to, the upgrade/migration of Colleague to Banner

  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to the business through presentations, seminars and one-on-one sessions

  • Coordinate meetings, document requirements, facilitate and track work activities

  • Balance demand for resources among multiple complex simultaneous projects, operational enhancements, break-fix, and maintenance requests

  • Develop strategy and resource plans to anticipate demand for implementation services and resource needs

  • Measure and communicate team performance against established KPIs to management and implement any necessary adjustments

  • Propose and implement process improvements

  • Document departmental procedures and decisions in knowledgebase

  • Promote a risk-aware culture; ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and practices

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years professional information technology related experience with at least 2 years supervisory or management experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree(s) in a business/ computer related field

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully maintaining and supporting Ellucian Banner and/or Colleague Student Information System, preferably in a Higher Education setting (college/university)

  • Experience working with a broad range of higher education administrators including vice presidents, deans, directors, faculty, and students

  • Knowledge of higher education core business processes

  • Understands application and technical concepts, functionality and capabilities

  • Able to lead and motivate a team and to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members

  • Experience creating and implementing plans according to project goals and objectives

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under tight timelines

  • Adept at problem resolution, improving efficiencies and continuous improvement

  • Experience working in an environment that adheres to security and compliance standards

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Ellucian Ethos Framework

  • Experience in ITIL framework, processes and operating procedures

 

Work Hours: 
Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with flexibility to meet business demands as needed.
