Responsibilities:

Information Technology prides itself on being technologically forward and customer centered as reflected by the service and support provided by the Academic Technology & Client Services (ATCS) team. Advanced digital technology, industry standard applications and collaborative spaces are available across and outside of campus. Partnerships with our Colleges and other administrative offices allows the office of Academic Technology & Client Services the opportunity to provide students and faculty reliable services throughout campus. Technology services provided include the learning spaces oversight and support, IT service desk, campus cards, event support and equipment checkout.

The office of Information Technology is seeking an experienced individual to work alongside a strong team of leaders in the strategic planning and implementation of innovative and reliable technology solutions that are in line with the mission of the university in support of advanced teaching and learning environments. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. The successful applicant must provide strong leadership, and should be an innovative and diplomatic leader with a strong record of building a motivated and skilled team that supports an information technology culture of collaboration and creativity, delivering and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Academic Technology & Client Services team in the development, communication and execution of Information Technology (IT) strategy 

  • Inspire, develop, manage and support an effective and efficient IT workforce 

  • Actively participate in development of IT governance to establish priorities, develop policies and standards, and allocate resources appropriately

  • Align long-term and short-term IT strategic plans and practices with University’s mission

  • Negotiate and manage enterprise IT vendor contracts and relationships to effectively and efficiently provide services

  • Engage stakeholders to ensure transparency and promote positive partnerships

  • Collaborate with faculty and University offices to identify technology needs and forward-thinking innovative solutions to surpass customer expectations 

  • Analyze organizational impact of technology trends and best practices, evaluate impact of future technology solutions on current and future needs, and establish long-term implementation strategies to ensure optimization of services over time

  • Develop and administer department budget for ensuring university-wide adherence to centralized technology acquisitions process

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to manage a team to high performance, using results-oriented objectives driven by customer expectations

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively across multiple constituencies

  • Proactive, open and collaborative leadership style

  • Experience supporting E-learning technologies, software, and hardware, and applying them to university instruction

  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and implementing new practices and technologies to improve an organization’s overall programs and services

  • Ability to establish and maintain credibility and rapport quickly with a wide range of stakeholders and constituent groups

  • Excellent customer service skills as demonstrated by the ability to work directly with constituents and vendors to understand and resolve functional or technical issues and concerns and meet customer needs

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment

  • Demonstrated experience with small and large-scale project planning, implementation, portfolio management, IT governance, methodologies, and procedures

  • Ability to provide coach/support staff in skill development, including strategic planning, functional transformation, and budgeting/resource allocation

  • Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills

  • Experience managing contracts with IT hardware, software and audio/visual vendors

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree and eight years of demonstrated progressive experience in information technology 

  • Experience leading information technology transformation to embrace creative customer-focused deliverables

  • Experiencing applying innovative technologies, including VR and AI

  • Five years direct experience working in an academic institution

  • Experience presenting at conferences.

  • ITIL Foundation Certified
