General Description / Primary Purpose

The Associate Vice President & Chief Information Officer is responsible to the Vice President of Administration & Finance. This position provides oversight & general direction to multiple departments within a division and participates in the decisions which contribute to the overall direction of the division.

Essential Duties

 

Job Function

Align information technology with the strategic objectives and mission of the University and recommend,implement, and manage IT initiatives that support these objectives. Recommend strategies for successful Implementation of IT systems and services. Communicate IT objectives and services to the campus community. To accomplish these functions the Incumbent will provide both strategic and operational direction to the following departments and units: Enterprise Systems, Networking, Systems, and Security, User Services, Academic Technology, the Project Management Office, Serve as the University’s appointed member of the Board of Directors of the Florida LambdaRail, LLC. The University is an equity owner of this company. Serve as staff to the Vice President for Administration and Finance and represent the Vice President in her/his absence. The position is expected to serve on multiple University committees and could be responsible for chairing various ones. Act as the University’s liaison to the CIO of the Board of Governors. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence. This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and seven years of experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and nine years of experience directly related to the job functions.

A Masters degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and seven (7) years of directly related experience, or a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and nine (9) years of directly related experience.

This position requires a level II background check, which includes fingerprinting. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.

The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator.

Required Licensure or Certification

Position is deemed an “administrator” as it relates to the Vulnerable Persons Act and has accordant responsibilities. Position is deemed to be “essential personnel” in emergency and/or crisis situations.

Physical tasks: locomotion to and from all campus locations; operation of a personal computing device(s). Mental tasks: analyzing, comprehending, evaluating, interpreting, advising, communicating (orally and in writing), coordinating, and supervising. Environment: primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment. Equipment/tools required: personal computing device(s) with network access, variety of software, telephone.
