About the Position:

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Associate Vice President for Information Technology/Innovation Officer. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Associate Vice President for Information Technology/Innovation Officer (AVPIT) is a senior level executive reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology/CIO (VPIT). The AVPIT performs broad operational responsibilities for IT services, functions and activities, including Student Technology Services, Library IT Liaison, IT Project Management, IT Training, IT Finance, and involvement in strategic planning as well as university/enterprise projects and special projects of high importance to the campus. The AVPIT is responsible for fostering and maintaining a collegial work environment and keeping themselves apprised of the technology needs, plans, developments, and concerns of all CSUF stakeholders, including administrative and academic divisions and colleges, other CSU campuses, and with CSU Chancellor’s Office management. The AVPIT will also be expected to brief executive management on critical issues in a timely and diligent manner. The ability to convey technology-based information to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential to the position. Additionally, as the Innovation Officer, the AVPIT will be a key advisor on both external and internal partnerships that create innovative solutions for education. The AVPIT will foster and maintain a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing throughout the campus. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Master’s degree in Information Systems or related discipline from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 7 years of increasing managerial responsibilities, preferably in a university environment. Strong understanding of Information Technology best practices, processes, and life-cycles, preferably in a higher education environment. Excellent track record of establishing and fostering strong internal customer service and business relationships with executive, management, and staff-level employees. Prior
experience partnering with University constituencies to develop an IT strategic plan.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Experience providing both academic and administrative technology leadership.

The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial “Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests” within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
