JOB DESCRIPTION: The role of the Campus IT Support Specialist shall be technical support and network maintenance for the educational and administrative needs of the school, and the ideal candidate will look forward to being part of this team and school culture. He or she should have both a passion and an aptitude for working effectively with individuals who vary widely in technical knowledge and skills, and should possess a background in technical support, computer networking, or customer service combined with technical hobbies or skills.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Academic Technology

TERM: Full-Time Year-Round, Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm, with occasional extra hours

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the Director of Academic Technology

  • Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students, and maintain a detailed log of requests and tasks completed.
  • Reserve and set up equipment, including laptops and audiovisual equipment, for classes and campus events. Assist teachers and students in checking laptops in and out of computer carts and making sure laptops are charged for use.
  • Maintain an equipment checkout system for various equipment, including laptops for student use and audiovisual equipment for classroom use.
  • Perform regular maintenance and as-needed troubleshooting of computer hardware and software, copiers and printers, and other technology devices, and maintain a detailed log of work completed.
  • Help maintain the school’s Google Apps for Education account, as well as other online services utilized by the school, which includes creating user accounts with appropriate rights and settings.
  • Utilize established policies and procedures for detailed tracking of technology-related tasks involved when members of faculty/staff or student body are added or removed.
  • Assist other administrative staff in gathering, entering, and organizing data in various digital systems used by the school.
  • Acquire as needed any training or certifications associated with the maintenance of current data, communications and learning technologies.
  • Assist in the formation of the annual technology budget through research and long-term planning and systematically track spending as it relates to the budget.
  • Perform all other tech support, computer, data and account management, or network tasks and projects assigned.

 

With the additional guidance of the IT Consultant:

  • Maintain data and communications network based on best practices and industry standards to support the administrative and educational functions of the school.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot as needed a secure and robust data and communication link to the world wide web that supports ongoing administrative and educational goals.
  • Maintain a secure and stable data storage system. Provide regular, timely data back-ups and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain and document a current map and inventory of all network and technical equipment, and updated licenses and warranties.
  • Maintain and advance volume software licensing to support the recent and future growth of the school.

  • Ability to manage and track long-term projects in addition to the primary and more immediate responsibilities of tech support.
  • Desire for continual on-the-job training and mentorship.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds required.
  • Ability to work during off-hours when required to meet the school’s needs, including occasional evening events, rare weekend events, and appointments for repair of technology equipment.
  • Experience with each of the following:
    • Microsoft Windows Server
    • Gmail
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Networking

 

Preferred Experience with one or more of the following:

  • History of work in the field of education
  • Imaging Process
  • Remote Computing
  • Google Apps for Business or Education
  • Student Information Systems such as Blackbaud or Renweb
  • Office 365
  • Citrix
  • Data entry and advanced Excel functionality
  • Audio-Visual and/or Radio/Film/Television equipment
