Summary of Job Duties

The Chief Information Officer for University Information Technology/CIO plays a principal role in providing strategic vision and leadership for all facets of University IT and overall operational management of the IT Services department. Collaborates with both academic and administrative leaders to facilitate institutional change and create a positive organizational culture for information technology services across campus. This position works with stakeholders across campus, leveraging emerging trends in technology to support traditional and online education, administrative processes, research, outreach and public service. This position reports jointly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Finance & Administration and will directly manage a staff of 150 full-time employees and 120 part-time/student workers with a direct responsibility for a budget of $23 million.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least ten years in IT that demonstrates progressive responsibility and senior-level management experience

  • At least three years of experience leading a multifaceted change management project/initiative

  • Demonstrable experience in the successful delivery of complex IT projects along with evidence of direct responsibility for strategic planning, organizational development, client and infrastructure support and fiscal and personnel management

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics or a related field

  • Experience in a research-intense university
