Job Summary

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is the executive responsible for district-wide strategic leadership in the area of technology. This position is also responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and coordination of the information technology practice and policy for the College. The CTO will also oversee the purchase and maintenance of all IT hardware and software for the institution. This position provides leadership that ensures information technology tools are efficiently and effectively deployed in support of the college’s goals and principles. The position works closely with and reports directly to the Chancellor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as the chief technology officer for the College 

  • Advises the Chancellor on all aspects of technology planning

  • Participates in enterprise planning efforts for the college to ensure that technology is appropriately integrated into college planning efforts 

  • Provides leadership as district chief technology officer for strategic planning, implementation and operational guidance of all aspects of academic and administrative computing, instructional support, networking, support for distance learning, accessibility, and supports the integration of technology into the learning process

  • Coordinates budget planning for technology division; maintains appropriate control and oversight of all financial and budgetary matters for the division

  • Prepares long and short-range plans for application selection, systems development, systems maintenance, production activities and necessary support resources

  • Forecasts the maintenance/repair, and replacement of the hardware, software, and network infrastructures needed to meet the information needs of the college; supervises and coordinates strategic planning, funding, and purchasing needs

  • Develops and implements policies relating to the use, licensing, security and procurement of telecommunication and information technology 

  • Designs and implements technology support, service, maintenance and training program

  • Consults with college leadership to determine information requirements, boundaries and priorities of new projects, and to discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions

  • Confers with leaders of proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define nature of projects; supports vision for academic and instructional computing

  • Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software and technical services to assure optimum cost effectiveness and adherence to technical specifications as established by needs of the district  

  • Reviews technical projects such as equipment specifications or computer programs for specified applications

  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite

  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)

  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College

  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Ten (10) years of progressively more responsible experience in related field
