St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School is seeking a part-time Communications and Marketing Specialist who is self-confident, enthusiastic, highly organized, and a collaborative professional to join our successful Advancement Department. This position will be an important part of our lively, creative team and plays an integral role in helping digitally and visually communicate St. Matthew’s mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the school’s well-established brand, ensuring the visual identity and key messaging are consistent and of the highest quality.

  • Set annual and long-term strategic goals, and manage an integrated marketing and communications approach for school-wide initiatives.

  • Collaborate with the admissions and development offices to ensure all marketing and communications materials reflect the school’s mission and story.

  • Develop and execute tactics designed to support enrollment, donor engagement and fundraising initiatives.

  • Capitalize on best uses of website, digital technology and social media.

  • Provide direction in the overall production of all print collateral.

  • Oversee the creative development and placement of general advertising in conjunction with the admissions office.

  • Initiate, oversee and apply market research as appropriate.

  • Manage the marketing, publications and website budgets. Maintain and monitor the school-wide calendar of communications, and the efficiency, effectiveness and impact of marketing initiatives.

  • Inform members of the faculty, staff and board of trustees of all marketing initiatives.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key external civic and business constituencies.

  • Engage in state, regional and national activities relative to marketing, independent schools, and other professional priorities, keeping abreast of current trends and best practices.

  • Attend meetings, on/off-campus events, and maintain interaction with the day-to-day life of the school.

  • Manage any special projects, events and programs as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

For this position, demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills are required. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and passionate self-starter. He or she will have at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, print or electronic journalism, or the equivalent, as well as:

  • Familiarity with website content management systems (eg. WhippleHill/Blackbaud), website analytic tools and inbound marketing tactics.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in graphic design; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Project management and financial skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and demands.

  • Expertise in key digital media disciplines/tools with an understanding of integrated media campaigns and social media

  • A good sense of humor and enthusiasm for a high-energy work environment

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in an independent school desirable but not required. Applicants from agency, non-profit, or corporate backgrounds are welcome to apply.

  • Demonstrated experience in job responsibilities.

  • BA degree required.

  • Minimum of two years equivalent experience.
