Job Title: Computer Science Teacher and Makerspace Specialist
Department: Computer Science
Reports to: Mr. Eric Hedinger, Head of Upper School
FLSA Status: Exempt
PDS Status: Faculty, full-time, benefited
This position is a full-time, 10 month exempt position beginning August, 2018.
Responsibilities: The Computer Science/Makerspace teacher will report to the Head of Upper School and will be responsible for teaching a variety of Computer Science courses such as Robotics with EV3, Robotics with RobotC, CAD with 3D Printing, as well as, managing the Makerspace classroom. This person must like to tinker, create, and troubleshoot. In addition to the normal teaching responsibilities, the selected candidate will advise and coach robotics teams, expose lower and middle school students to robotics/engineering concepts during the year, and supervise the Makerspace area during middle and upper school lunch periods and/or before and after school.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. It is preferred that the degree be in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Must have experience in computer programming including, but not necessarily limited to C, Python, or Java and experience with CAD software. Ability to teach robotics is preferred.
