Computer Science Teacher
The Browning School seeks a Computer Science Teacher that will help facilitate innovation at Browning. This person will be responsible for teaching technology classes with a focus on Computer Science and Engineering curriculum.. The ideal candidate will also help faculty integrate technology into their courses and be comfortable supporting the Student Information System - Veracross. We are seeking a candidate that is a highly creative thinker that can act as a technology leader at Browning. The Computer Science Teacher reports to the Director of Technology and the Computer Science and Engineering Department Chair.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Computer Science and Engineering courses (60% teaching load). We will provide extensive professional development for teaching CS. Including a boot camp for those that are not CS experts but are interested in teaching and learning CS.
- Provide faculty, students and staff with guidance using educational technology.
- Support the Student Information System - Veracross
- Deploy and develop a 1:1 Chromebook program
- Provide Tech Support to faculty
- Provide leadership on the technology committee

- Excited to learn and teach coding to a variety of age groups; professional development in pedagogy provided along with support for CS courses.
- Passionate about encouraging young people to take on complex and challenging ideas and practices and helping them build a portfolio of work.
- Views technology education as an interdisciplinary liberal arts project enriched by a deepening understanding of ethics, identity and creativity.
- Familiarity or interest in web development with HTML/CSS/Javascript, creative coding with Processing/p5.js, platforms such as Glitch, CodeHS, Code.org, Cloud9, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and problem solve
- Experience troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues relevant to the classroom, and STEM education
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
