Unit Job Summary The Computer Science Department is responsible for the computer science education of students in grades N through twelve. Computer science classes are taught in the schools' computer labs; at other times the labs are open for use by students, faculty, and staff. The computer labs contain Apple computers that are managed by department members for curricular needs.

The PS/LS Computer Science Teacher is responsible for developing curriculum for and teaching computer science classes in grade two, and other grades as required; working collaboratively with teachers in grades nursery through two as a Computer Science Specialist to create opportunities for interdisciplinary learning; working together with other members of the Computer Science Department to develop and maintain a cohesive curriculum sequence from grades 2-12; advocating for computer science education in K-12.

Full-time teachers are expected to work a 40-hour week and the required number of days as stipulated in the Faculty Association contract. All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Anticipated start date for this position is immediately.  
Education Master's degree preferred.
Degree(s) in computer science or related field preferred.
Degree in early childhood education preferred.
Coursework or degree that reflects multicultural content preferred.  
Experience At least two years teaching experience preferred.
Experience developing curriculum preferred.
Experience working with primary age children preferred.
Experience working with a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language and nationality.  
Competencies Strong knowledge of computer science subject matter required.
