Reports To: Science Department Chair
Summary: Saint Mary’s Hall seeks a full-time teacher for the following:
- one section of AP Computer Science (Upper School)
- one section of STEM support (Upper School—Fall)
- one section of Introduction to Computer Science (Upper School—Spring)
- one section of Introduction to Robotics (Middle School)
- one section of Advanced Robotics (Middle School)
- Robotics Clubs Sponsor (Middle and Upper School)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, or Engineering with a programming background
- Public or independent school teaching experience
- Ability to generate and implement computer science/robotics curriculum for 6th – 12th grade
- Ability to inspire students to think critically
- Knowledge of the Java programming language or other object-oriented language
- Familiarity with common robotics programs such as LEGO, Mindstorm, NXT, and VEX
- Familiarity with iPhone and/or Android application development
- Ability to conduct lab activities and assign engaging, project-based homework
- Knowledge of and/or experience with the Advanced Placement Program
Job Description:
- Maintain lab equipment (manage software, update software)
- Encourage students to participate in competitive Robotics events locally and regionally and coach them at these events
- Maintain assignments and grades for students on a weekly basis
- Communicate with parents concerning student progress
- Attend all required Science Department and Divisional meetings
- Serve as Advisor for students in 6-8th grades
- Participate in requested professional development activities
- Attend Project CRISS training during New Teacher Orientation
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work primarily in a traditional classroom setting
- Work in a rigorous, and at times stressful, academic environment dealing with deadlines and a diverse array of contacts.
- Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
- Intricate motor skills required
- Must be able to travel periodically throughout the academic year
- Must be able to perform repetitious movements for extended periods of time, i.e. walking, standing, bending, and stooping
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions
