Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a computer workstation technician.  The Computer Workstation Technician is responsible for technical hardware and software support to administrative offices and departments, including divisional offices, all school offices, the head’s office and all academic departments. This position also supports school-purchased student laptops and provides consultation services to students who choose to bring in their own devices.

Responsibilities

·         Configure and install new hardware and software, create and restore hard-disk images for staff computers, troubleshoot and solve hardware and software operational problems prior to and after installation, and plan major hardware deployments;

·         Maintain computers by diagnosing and repairing hardware/software problems that occur during normal use and upgrade software/hardware as necessary for security and performance;

·         Coordinate major repairs with vendors, and track pick-up, delivery, and inventory of machines en route to repair facilities;

·         Assist faculty and staff in routine computer use, answer ad hoc questions, provide technical expertise on routine and unique usage requirements, provide advice on proper care and maintenance of computers, and promote safety and security;

·         Stay current with trends in the technology industry and advise technology team members of potential technical issues;

·         Provide technical expertise for the student and faculty laptop program;

·         Maintain regular attendance and be proficient on assigned software / desktop programs/ hardware devices;

·         Track and manage workflow within an enterprise ticketing system;

·         Work with tech team members to support and maintain network, printers and audiovisual systems; and

·         Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates should have experience (1) installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing Windows-based computers, including expert knowledge of Windows XP, 10, and Enterprise environments; (2) working with different types of business software applications (e.g., for accounting, data bases, food services); and (3) handling repair depot processes and inventory practices. Also essential is competent working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft software (Office applications, Outlook 365 and 2016, Chrome, Mozilla and Internet Explorer), and the World Wide Web; experience with databases and Macintosh operating systems will be preferred. References should speak to the applicant’s superior organizational skills and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple events, tasks, and details; ability to carry out projects independently and to work as part of a team; and capacity for working harmoniously and effectively with adult colleagues and students.  This position requires organizational skills, initiative and a good work-ethic. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a nationwide criminal background check and a Washington State Patrol background check.

Physical Requirements

This position will require standing/sitting, walking to other parts of campus, and occasional travel. Out-of-town travel amounts to approximately 5% or less time and would primarily be for attending conference or professional development workshops or seminars, which would be voluntary. This position must be able to lift 20 - 25 lbs; move around the Lakeside campus; stoop and bend to navigate under desks and workstations as needed, as well as communicate with all community members.
