Job Description

Work schedule is Tues – Thurs 7:00am – 3:30pm, Friday 9am – 6pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Library Technology, supervise, assist, and train assigned Graduate Assistant, Team Leaders, Student Technology Assistants (STA) and Desk Assistants in all aspects of desktop and classroom technology support. Help MTSU students, staff, and faculty properly use software and equipment. Hire and organize training for Library Technology Services (LTS) student staff (25-30). Create daily schedules and assignments for LTS student staff. Schedule Team Leaders, STAs, and Desk Assistants for Library MakerSpace (25-30) and LTS (25-30). Train Team Leaders and STAs on use of Library MakerSpace equipment as assigned by Supervisor. Train MTSU students, staff, and faculty on MakerSpace equipment during Friday and Saturday shift as needed. Monitor and order LTS departmental supplies and supplies used for public and library staff printers. Provide installation, configuration, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of software and hardware for classrooms and computer labs in James E. Walker Library. Remain current on technology trends, tools, and support methods for new technologies adopted for use within the Library public spaces, specialized labs, and classrooms. Document support interactions in campus FootPrints call tracking software. Administer Meeting Place and Presentation Practice Room calendar availability. Computing environment includes servers, multiple platforms, classroom systems, and discipline specific equipment and software. Perform related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study

Bachelor’s degree required.

Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience 

Three (3) years’ experience with installation, maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of microcomputers (IBM compatible/Macintosh) and peripherals. Working knowledge of audio/visual control equipment such as TV’s, sound systems, LCD projectors, and A/V control devices required. Two (2) years of supervision, hiring, scheduling, and training experience required.

Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

Prior Library experience preferred.

Degree in computer information systems, management, communications, or related area preferred.

Salary Range $40,194 - $49,775; commensurate with experience
