Miami University Libraries seeks a dynamic Creative Technologist for the Create and Innovate (C+I) department, to join a team currently working and supporting digital scholarship, digital humanities, GIS services, open educational resources, 3D printing, collaborative learning spaces, makerspaces, virtual reality, and high-end multimedia labs, working in a team environment to implement digital projects and services to facilitate maker culture, collaboration, creativity and innovation targeting students, faculty, staff and campus units.

 

The Create and Innovate Department enhances scholarly work at Miami University by anticipating the resources, technologies, spaces and expertise that drive groundbreaking research, creative forms of expression, innovative tools for teaching, and new mediums for sharing our community’s scholarly achievements.  The position reports to the Head of the Create and Innovate department.

 

Duties/Physical Demands:

  1. Provide support for faculty and student projects including: digital publishing, data visualization, collaborative learning spaces, etc.;
  2. Build innovative solutions and services using technologies such as APIs, 3D modeling, makerspaces, etc.
  3. Work on content creation and light customization and adaptation of open source tools such as WordPress;
  4. Perform related duties as assigned and as the state of the art changes.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in a technology related field;
  2. Knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript;
  3. Ability to work in a team environment and build working relationships with colleagues;
  4. Willingness and motivation to continually learn new technical skills;
  5. Familiarity with emerging technologies and makerspaces;
  6. Experience in implementing digital projects.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. Experience with scripting languages such as PHP, Ruby, etc.;
  2. Experience with data visualization and API tools;
  3. Experience with makerspaces.
