The Data Systems Manager provides strategic leadership, as well as long-range and short-term planning in the areas of data quality assurance, reporting, analysis and system enhancements. In addition, the person selected for the role will be a maternity leave replacement and serve as the Temporary Registrar from June to December 2019. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technology, is self-reliant, has the ability to thrive under tight deadlines and has experience in database software management. While the role focuses heavily on data management, there is potential for growth with the right candidate to incorporate more data analysis over the long-term.
The Data Systems Manager will report to the Director Institutional Research with a dotted line to the CFO in their role as the Temporary Registrar and work collaboratively with other members of the student records department as well as faculty, division assistants, division heads, associate heads and the technology department.
To prepare for the maternity leave replacement, the Data Systems Manager will train with the school Registrar during their first 4 to 8 weeks on the job. As well as training with the school Registrar, the Data Systems Manager will work with faculty over the summer of 2019 to assist in the school’s transition from Schoology to OnCampus.
Key Responsibilities | Temporary Registrar (maternity leave replacement)
Summer 2019

Support faculty in transitioning courses from Schoology to OnCampus;

Work alongside the Registrar and Scheduler and attend trainings in the OnCampus and OnRecord SIS systems to help support full implementation in September 2019
Fall 2019
-
Work with the school Scheduler to troubleshoot Learning Management System courses and rosters;
-
Act as main point of contact/tech support for OnCampus and OnRecord;

Support Technology Integrators as they guide faculty through the first months of OnCampus use;

Oversee and coordinate outsourced training and refresher courses for faculty in grade book management and use;

Oversee Interim and Fall grading cycle for Middle and Upper School

Support division heads and associate heads in report editing;

Support division assistants as they produce, edit, troubleshoot and publish Interim and Fall grades for Middle and Upper School.
Key Responsibilities | Data Systems Manager

Enhance and develop data management processes and protocols to maximize accuracy, efficiency and security;

Write and maintain documentation outlining data input standards and best practices;

Manage relationships within and outside the schoolhouse to ensure that information flows to/from/within the organization in a timely manner;

Create and enforce policies for effective data management;

Work with the Director of Institutional Research to establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, external stakeholders etc.;

Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards;

Assist with reports and data extraction when needed;

Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required;

Minimum 2 years experience in student information systems or related database management software required, with a preference for experience in Blackbaud or Whipple Hill;

Experience with school Registrar work (generating student report cards) preferred but not required;

Strong background in relevant technology fields;

Working knowledge of Google suite, Adobe suite and Blackbaud products;

Highly resourceful with the ability to troubleshoot and solve technology-related issues independently;

Ability to fully grasp the complexity of data management;

Exceptionally high level of attention to detail;
-
Proven ability to work independently, good time-management skills, and ability to work

within tight deadlines;

Familiarity with/experience in independent schools

Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to interact with a range of constituents (parents, faculty, students, and school leadership)
