The Data Warehouse and BI Manager provides hands-on as well as management and leadership experience in architecting a data warehouse. Holds a key role at the center of UCSB's data warehouse and Business Intelligence group. Oversees and participates in the design, implementation and maintenance of data warehouse architecture and the development environment. Maintains deep insights and information patterns hidden within UCSB's massive data repositories.
The manager possesses and enjoys a high degree of independence, manages and participates in the daily activities of the team responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance and support of the enterprise data warehouse and associated reporting systems. Provides project leadership to meet identified business goals and objectives. Establishes the scope of projects, allocates resources, sets deadlines and monitors progress. Manages short and long-term projects. Partners with the central office and department stakeholders to create high-quality data and reporting solutions that enable operational and strategic decision-making.
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven or more years of experience with the Microsoft Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence stack (SQL Server, SSIS).
Demonstrated work experience in working as a lead of a Data Warehouse and BI group.
Advanced SQL Server programming (T-SQL, Functions, CLR).
Advanced knowledge of OLAP technologies.
5 to 7 years of experience in BI Reporting and Dashboard development.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong knowledge of dimensional data modeling, star schema design, and data warehousing best practices.
Strong ability to build consensus; ability to influence others.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and metadata skills.
Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objects.
Maintain the ability to work under tight timelines, reconciling across multiple stakeholder groups.
Experience managing senior level data warehouse engineers.
Solid experience leading industry BI tools i.e. Tableau, Power BI or similar.
Take ownership of projects assigned and support other developers with tasks to complete.
Experience with Cloud technologies, preferably Azure SQL Data Warehouse, AWS or other Cloud platform is preferred.
Experience in one or more languages (C#, VB) in Dot Net including Dot Net Core is preferred.
Ability to evaluate multiple technologies, platforms and propose the right solution to the problem is highly desired.
SQL server management tools such as RedGate Software is a plus.
Solid understanding of ODS (Operational Data Store).
Intermediate knowledge of other database platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, Firebase is a plus.
Agile Methodology
Strong background in programming languages, OOP principles is highly desired.
Familiarity with non-Microsoft Operating Systems such as CentOS is a plus
Familiarity with Informatica.
Satisfactory completion of a fingerprint background check
