Database Administrator
Carolina Friends School (CFS) is seeking a full-time Database Administrator. The Database Administrator will administer, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain the School’s databases. The Database Administrator will work closely with staff members to facilitate and support the use of the School’s information systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, Student Information Systems (SIS), and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Reporting to the Director of Technology, the primary responsibilities of this position include:

Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all school databases which include but are not limited to Veracross/Axiom, Financial Edge, Raisers Edge, Google Apps for Education, and Powerschool/Haiku

Managing access levels, permissions, and audit logs to secure our databases and the respective data associated with each system

Empowering staff members in the management of their respective systems by providing in-house expertise and technical support on database and software related issues, working with outside vendors/technical support as needed

Recommending and implementing policies, procedures, and data hygiene guidelines

Training staff on the use of the School’s databases and related technologies

Developing strategies for and managing the implementation of database consolidations to streamline efficiencies as needed throughout the School

Developing and producing routine and special reports and data retrievals for staff as needed, and acting as the point person for managing custom reporting requests

Remaining informed on software updates, upgrades, and additional services. Perform database and related hardware and software updates as needed

Participating in enhancing, implementing, and enforcing data governance, including data retention policies and procedures and business continuity policies and procedures

Participating in answering support requests
Strong candidates will demonstrate:

Bachelor’s of Science Degree
-
Knowledge of Axiom/Veracross strongly preferred
-
Minimum of 1 year relational database experience
-
Professional training and/or certification in advanced use and administration of relational databases preferred
-
Strong attention to detail
-
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
-
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents or independently as needed

Understanding of and strong affinity for Quaker philosophy and the School’s mission

A willingness to understand and explore how power and inequality influenced by factors such as race, class, gender, sexuality, and learning and physical disabilities impact our students and families
