The Jewish Community High School of the Bay, a pluralistic, college-preparatory independent school providing an outstanding educational experience to boys and girls in grades 9-12, seeks a Database Administrator / Development Assistant to start on September 6.
The Database Administrator / Development Assistant has a primary responsibility to grow and sustain positive and ongoing relationships with donors and prospective donors to JCHS. The Database Administrator / Development Assistant maintains the integrity of JCHS donor and prospect data through managing the school's fundraising database, The Raiser's Edge. The position reports to the Director of Development, will work closely with the Controller, and is full-time non-exempt. The candidate needs to be flexible with scheduling, working occasionally in the evening or weekends to support an event or project.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurate and efficient management of the school’s fundraising database, including:
- Timely processing and acknowledgement of donations
- Tracking open pledges and issuing timely pledge reminders
- Data entry and maintenance
- Queries for reports and exports for mailings and Board meetings
- Auditing to improve or enhance current usage
- Weekly and monthly reconciliation of donations and pledges with Accounting
- Financial reporting for the Board
- High-detail support for the annual campaign and spring fundraising event
- Management of multiple fundraising and stewardship mailings
- Coverage of the front desk phone during the lunch hour, one to two days per week
- Other administrative tasks as assigned by Development or Accounting as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- High proficiency in database software and data management – preferably in The Raiser’s Edge
- Demonstrated ability to produce error-free work when performing a variety of work functions such as data entry, correspondence, copy editing, file management and calculations
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and deadlines with keen attention to detail
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word (mail merges), Excel, and Internet as research tool
- Excellent English writing and oral communication skills including the ability to proofread own and others’ written materials
- Professional demeanor and judgment in handling confidential and sensitive donor information
- Ability to represent office professionally to donors, Board and Professional Community
- Ability to work well with volunteers and members of the school community
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
