Database Manager
The Database Manager, as a member of the Technology Department, is responsible for maintaining and supporting school wide applications, including the school’s databases, third-party offsite systems, and the learning management system including managing the integration between those systems and other software applications. This includes implemented processes to ensure data integrity, security, and reliability as well as troubleshooting technical issues, retrieving information from the databases, providing prompt and friendly support to users, and training users to work with the systems effectively. The Database Manager will contribute to a strong team environment by exhibiting high work standards and contributing to ongoing initiatives.
Essential Job Functions:

Manage the organizations’ database projects to ensure data integrity and consistency throughout data flow processes

Manage and facilitate data integration for system migrations

Manage database application access and privileges

Provide best practices and policies to insure the schools databases are being utilized fully

Develop and implement web services for academic needs

Analyze, create, run and/or modify a variety of reports and queries

Conduct audit processes and control data integrity across all databases, including the development of measures to ensure integrity

Ensure all 3rd party applications are accurate, synced and updated regularly with the schools primary database(s) (Blackbaud/ON Whipplehill products)

Provide primary point of contact support of the Blackbaud/ON Whipplehill Student Information System for end users

Develop, coordinate, and provide training on instructional and administrative systems, applications, and various software programs

Provide data oriented support and training on systems, procedures, best practices, reporting and data analysis to all departments and end users

Manage annual cycles of enrollment and graduation, as well as onboarding and separation of employees

Assess the needs of the school with respect to the school information system (SIS) and related applications, and make recommendations for future technologies

Ability to work with individuals with a range of technological expertise in a courteous and professional manner

Work closely with Development and Prospect Managers to design and implement Moves Management procedures facilitated through the RE: Search module within the database

Conducts assessment of training needs by survey, interview, or participant evaluation

Knowledge of relational database management systems, object oriented database management systems, and XML database management systems, Microsoft SQL

Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or related field
-
3 – 5 years working experience in data management, preferably with Blackbaud and Whipplehill’s ON products

Experience managing and maintaining learning management systems

Experience managing and maintaining an application programming interfaces
-
Experience generating reports and exports from databases
