Department Chair: Science, Mathematics, and Technology

The Chicago Academy for the Arts (chicagoacademyforthearts.org), an independent, college-preparatory high school for emerging young artists, seeks a full-time Department Chair for its Department of Science, Mathematics, and Technology for the 2018-2019 school year.

This position is primarily a teaching position with additional administrative duties, including supervising the department’s curriculum and faculty, communicating with students and their families, and collaborating with the administrative offices on various projects.

The teaching assignment may include a combination of upper-level mathematics courses *or* a combination of Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science.

Successful teachers at The Academy are passionate about their subject area and its pedagogy, committed to ongoing communication with parents and colleagues, believers in the ethos of independent schools, and have the interest and energy to uphold a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum.

The ideal candidate will have masters degree in teaching, mathematics, or science, and clear evidence of success working with adolescents in a high school setting.
