This position is with Ho'olaukoa's Education Systems and Strategy, Career Pathways & Professional Growth department and is available statewide.
Participates in planning, design and implementation of products associated with educational improvement and innovation. Works closely with education divisions and leaders within the Kamehameha Schools (KS), and partners external to KS (e.g., DOE and national professional organizations).
Project Planning
- Contributes to project planning discussions to establish project objectives, scope, risk mitigation, high-level timelines, cost-benefit analysis, project milestones, and detailed work plans.
- Reviews and gives input on drafts of various project planning documents (e.g. charter, work plan, etc.).
Product Design/Testing
- Collaborates with other Training Team members contributes to product design discussions and takes ownership of milestones/tasks that establish org-wide processes, training modules and training resources for student learning and educator performance standards development and assessment.
- Designs products that are in the best interest of the KS educational system, while working with all campuses/divisions to identify and mitigate risks.
- Collects and provides access to necessary resources needed for design and/or implementation.
- Designs products that are assessable.
- Identifies risks associated with product design that are not fully within the project’s control, but are important to success with becoming a standards-based system.
- Attempts to mitigate identified risks by proactively identifying problems and critically evaluating solution pathways.
- Utilizes appropriate channels (i.e., design and training teams, KS leadership, Community Education and Strategy & Innovation divisions) to review, evaluate and decide on design change requests.
- Identifies appropriate products for testing and utilizes effective and efficient testing and evaluation methods.
- Participates in testing of the products through development and execution of team-self review, peer review and live trials with educators.
- Plans, executes, and reports evaluations of products and processes.
Training and Facilitation
- Provides training on various educational standards products (e.g. process, resources) utilizing appropriate resources, methods and technology.
- Facilitates project team discussions and teacher large and small group discussion to produce various deliverables.
- Appropriately addresses questions and/or concerns voiced by training participants.
Communication
- Delivers ongoing updates regarding development of project plans, development and implementation of training modules and the achievement of milestones to various stakeholders (e.g. faculty, curriculum coordinators, division directors, principals, Headmasters, etc.).
- Collects and addresses questions and feedback from these stakeholders.
- Communicates to campus/division leadership, items that are out-of-project-scope, but are campus/divisions’ responsibility and important to the success of student learning and professional performance standards.
- Facilitates and runs meetings, documents results, tracks issues, and ensures resolution.
- Works to build and manage client relationships.

Position Requirements |
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Knowledge of and experience with designing and assessing standards based curriculum and the integration of culture and curriculum (e.g., lessons, units).
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all stakeholders via face to face interactions, electronic and web based communications.
- Ability to facilitate small and large group work sessions.
- Self-motivated with the demonstrated ability to take appropriate initiative.
- Skilled in working with various constituent groups—Administrator/Management, Faculty, Educational Support Group – within and beyond KS.
- Work flexible and at time, long hours as necessary and be able to travel frequently.
- Familiarity with word processor and software/programs, e.g. Microsoft Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, MS Project.
- Ability to traverse SharePoint or other groupware.
- Experience working in collaborative teams to achieve desired outcomes and milestones.
- Ability to be adaptive and shift with job demands and conditions.
- Must be able to work independently and manage time and work to meet deliverables and outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Hawaiian language and culture, and culture-based education.
- Experience with instructional coaching and/or supporting other educators.
- Familiarity of KS’s strategic plan, including the vision, mission and goals.
- Knowledge of 21st century skills for students.
- Prior experience working on a project-based team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position involves traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
