Design Technology/Media Arts Department Chair
Saint Andrew’s School, a JK-12 boarding and day school in Boca Raton, FL, is looking for a leader of our Design Technology/Media Arts Department. The qualified candidate is a culturally competent team player with proven administrative ability and significant classroom teaching experience. The Department Chair provides instructional coaching for departmental faculty and is responsible for the development and implementation of an aligned sequencing of coursework in both Design Technology and Media Arts. The school has recently expanded its offerings in Design Technology and seeks to develop a coherent, innovative and rigorous JK-12 curriculum. The school also has recently opened the Kessler Digital Media Institute and continues to expand course offerings and develop interdisciplinary experiences to take advantage of the state-of-the-art broadcasting and film-making facilities available on campus.

Position Summary
The Chair of the Department collaborates with the Dean of Faculty, the Dean of Studies and the Lower, Middle and Upper School division heads in the development and delivery of mission-aligned curriculum and instructional practices. The department chair is responsible for leading the successful implementation of high-quality educational programs and managing the professional performance of the faculty in his or her department.
Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Dean of Faculty to manage the support and development of departmental faculty according to the Guide to Performance Management

Collaborate with the Dean of Studies, division heads and department faculty to develop and implement the scope and sequence of academic coursework, curricular content, course material, and assessment practices

Collaborate with the Dean of Studies and division heads regarding faculty teaching assignments, in conjunction with the Dean of Faculty

Collaborate with the division head and Dean of Studies regarding student placement in department courses

Serve on the hiring committee for departmental faculty

Manage the department budget

Oversee the daily operation of the department

Set departmental goals and hold regularly scheduled department meetings

Work with parents, faculty, and relevant senior administrators when student concerns arise

Manage department representation at school-wide events (i.e. open houses; curriculum coffees)

Coordinate department-specific events (i.e. Poetry House, Math Games)

Teach three sections

Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred

A strong background in curriculum and instruction
