Description

From K – 12, technology is an integral part of learning.  At Punahou School, the Information Technology (IT) department strives to create an environment where access to and support for digital information, tools, devices and rich learning opportunities are fully integrated throughout the K – 12 environment.  The IT team designs, builds, maintains and enhances technology for students and staff enabling them to effectively utilize current and emerging technologies as tools for effective learning.
 
Punahou School is actively recruiting a Desktop Engineer position who will be Information Technology’s technical lead for personal computing devices.  This includes personal computer hardware and software standardization, as well as mobile device management for Punahou owned MacOS/Windows desktop computers, laptops, tablets (iOS) and peripheral devices.  The Desktop Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining device image standards, utilizing automation to deploy software to end user devices and maintaining thorough methodologies and documentation on all current and newly implemented technologies.  The Desktop Engineer will assess, test, and pilot new technologies recommending deployment methodologies and strategies.  The Desktop Engineer utilizes systems tools such as mobile device management solutions and active directory as part of device and user management.

This position serves as the end user device subject matter expert providing tier II and III support to users when escalated by the Help Desk team and performs root cause assessment and remediation.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity, excellent communication skills, ability to prioritize and balance workloads, ability to collaborate as a team and have experience with desktop packaging best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.  
  • Five (5) years of experience with advanced troubleshooting in Mac OS, iOS and/or Windows.
  • Three (3) years of advanced experience with MDM administration experience.
  • Advanced automation and reporting experience, with a strong bias towards automated deployment and operations experiences
  • Experience administrating a MDM solution including creating software packages and deployments
  • Experience with OS upgrades/migrations on a corporate scale for Mac OS and Windows
  • Experience in automating application delivery to the desktop and mobile devices
  • Experience using service manage systems for ticketing and hardware/software inventory
  • Advanced automation and reporting experience, with a strong bias towards automated deployment and operations experiences
  • Experience administrating a MDM solution including creating software packages and deployments
  • Experience using service manage systems for ticketing and hardware/software inventory
  • Overall understanding of software package development
  • Proven documentation and technical writing skills including technical documentation such as policies, standard operating procedures, and user procedures.
