Summary of Responsibilities |
Provide a full range of services necessary for the operation of WSU client computers and peripherals maintained by the Media Resources Center, primarily for faculty and staff use in classrooms, conference rooms and other shared spaces. Duties include but are not limited to all of the following tasks: Deploy, configure, install, network, and secure computer hardware, software, printers, and peripherals. Provide initial orientation on the use of computer hardware and supported applications. Provide immediate-response support for faculty in classrooms, sometimes including personal devices. Diagnose, repair, and maintain computer hardware with Windows, macOS, iOS & Android operating systems, software applications, peripherals, and networking. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure data integrity, system security and reliability. Configure and manage AV systems monitoring applications such as Creston Fusion Server, projector health software, wireless presentations dashboard and more. Support the Campus Media Services team by being cross-trained on the AV equipment contained in the classroom podiums and storage areas. Support departmental computers and tablets as the technician liason with the MRC. Ensure customer satisfaction. Reports to the Manager of Desktop Computing. Receives assignments, general direction on setting up priorities, and schedule from the Manager of Campus Media Services and/or Director of the Media Resources Center.
This position will report to and be supervised by Information Technology Services, but will be assigned exclusively to the Media Resources Center. The MRC operates in several physical locations in Wichita (main campus, Old Town, Metropolitan Complex, WSUSouth, WSU West, WSU Haysville).

Minimum Experience |

One year of experience in a professional technical support environment such as computer repair, networking or technical support center.

Experience diagnosing problems with computer hardware and software along with network diagnostic with the ability to apply solutions to the problems.

Experience with standard computer applications (for example, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and internet browsers).

Experience with a Microsoft Windows multiple-user, server-managed user environment.

Strong knowledge with computers, networking and operating systems.

Strong technical skills and experience with troubleshooting computer hardware, software, peripherals, and network diagnostics.

Experience with wireless communication and troubleshooting.
