Development Database Associate

Position Overview
The Development Database Associate is primarily responsible for providing advancement services support to the Development and Alumni Offices through Raiser’s Edge database functions. This person will provide friendly, helpful, timely, and effective advancement services to Lovett’s internal and external stakeholders and ensure that Lovett’s Raiser’s Edge database contains current and accurate constituent data.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Creating and updating records for new and returning families, grandparents, and friends of the school.
- Updating and maintaining alumni and parent of alumni records by extracting information from social media channels, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter; subscription-based and free information service providers, such as Alumni Finder, search engines, and whitepages.com; and through internal resources such as faculty/staff colleagues, school yearbooks, archives, and other data sources. This research includes reporting on extracurricular activities, awards/recognition, biographical and professional information, as well as personal milestones such as marriages, children, etc.
- Adhering to best practices established for data integrity.
- Processing returned mail by removing invalid addresses and updating with current addresses. Annually update addresses using address correction services.
- Assisting with Advancement Services’ mailings (i.e. pledge reminders, tax receipts).
- Creating, researching, and updating foundation/organization records and associated contacts.
- Assisting with file maintenance for gift-entry deposits/financial reports.
- Assisting with special events, as needed.
- Providing general administrative support and perform other related duties, as needed.
Position Requirements
- Must possess a team-oriented, professional, and helpful disposition.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office applications and social media channels is required.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
- Experience working at a school or another nonprofit organization is strongly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize work and maintain the flexibility to change directions as circumstances dictate.
- Sound judgment relating to confidential school, financial, or student matters.
- A strong attention to detail and follow-through is required.
- Maintain quality of detailed work while meeting deadlines.
- Possess a high degree of organizational effectiveness.
- Provide effective written and verbal communication with a variety of people and though various circumstances.
- Intermittently, this position is required to work outside of regular business hours for job-related functions. Lovett gives as much advance notice as possible for these events.
