Digital Learning Specialist and Computer Science Teacher
Garrison Forest School has an opening for an Upper School Digital Learning Specialist and Computer Science Teacher to begin August 2020. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who brings an energetic approach to teaching Computer Science. The ideal candidate would also support Upper School teachers in integrating technology into the classroom Along with classroom teaching, contributing to the co-curricular life of the school is an integral part of the teacher's role in our community, as is a collaborative approach to planning and teaching. Ideal candidates will be interested in preparing our students to live and work in a global and multicultural society. A desire to contribute to the leadership and scholarship of young women are important qualities for this position, as well as an ability to build positive, constructive relationships with students.This position reports to the Head of the Upper School and meets with the Director of Educational Technology and Libraries.
Garrison Forest School, located in Baltimore County, Maryland, is an independent, non-sectarian day and boarding school educating girls in grades K-12, with a coed preschool. GFS offers a national and international boarding program for girls in grades 8-12. Teach a computer science classes and 9th grade media literacy course

Teach a one semester yearbook course and serve as faculty co-coordinator for the yearbook

Establish relationships with Dept Chairs and the members of their departments through meetings and class visits to develop technology objectives for themselves and their students

Design, coordinate, and deliver technology-related faculty professional development through self-paced lessons, presentations, and workshops

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter

Serve as an academic advisor to a group of students

Contribute to the life of the School by chaperoning three weekend activities per year for the Residential Life program and advising co-curricular activities.

Work alongside the Upper School Administrative team to build a meaningful learning experience for students

Create a secure and stimulating environment in which students grow in both autonomy and the ability to work and interact together

Take responsibility for being a role model by maintaining an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues

Possess strong communication skills, a patient and thorough understanding of adolescence and the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues

Take on additional opportunities as a coach if desired
Qualifications:

B.A. degree or equivalent – Master’s degree desirable

Prior experience working with children in a school

Highly proficient in GSuite, experience using and managing Schoology or equivalent (LMS)

Experience with multiple platforms including iOS, Windows 10, and Mac OSX and Chrome
