Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in Bethesda, MD and Northwest Washington, DC, seeks a Director of Communications to lead its communications program. The Director of Communications collaborates with a wide range of constituencies and offices inside the School and manages a staff which includes a Digital Specialist, Creative Director and Managing Editor.

Specific responsibilities include planning, initiating, and managing school-wide communications; managing the design and content of all-school print, digital, and social media; and determining and implementing, in a matter consistent with the values of the School, the strategic direction of the School’s communications and marketing plan. The Director of Communications is responsible for the strategy, content, and consistency of all-school communications.

A bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of communications experience in an educational or non-profit setting are required. A master’s is preferred. Publications experience a plus. Outstanding writing and editing skills are a must, as is a sense of humor.

Applicants should upload a resume, cover letter, contact information for three references, and a sample of their writing and publication work via our online application.
