Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master's degree and three years of related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Master's degree (i.e., BA+4 years related professional experience). A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.

2. Ability to work and manage in inclusive and diverse environment.

3. Strong organization and time-management skills.

4. Extensive knowledge of computer networking, data communications, telecommunications, and computer hardware and software systems.

5. Thorough knowledge of business practices and policies including budgeting and planning, management and supervisory practices and principles.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments of the College, Nevada System of Higher Education offices, state agencies, students, vendors and the community.

8. Ability to plan, analyze and measure complex systems and processes to implement changes.

9. Experience with large-scale implementation of technology projects.

10. Ability to collaborate and integrate multiple-campus services.

11. Experience in higher education environment, preferred.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the day to day management of the Computing Services Department.

2. Develop budget for Computing Services department, maintains budget control and management, and supports the institutional budget process for short- and long-term planning to support a sound institutional technology infrastructure.

3. Manage all aspects of the college's information technology infrastructure.

4. Evaluate new technologies, processes, and methods to ensure alignment with best practices in technology infrastructure, information security, and system operations.

5. Employ best practices to ensure system stability, uptime, and infrastructure reliability.

6. Serve as the primary administrative contact for all Computing Services vendors; responsible for managing Computing Services vendor relations.

7. Ensure that all warranty, maintenance, and support agreements are in place, current, and meet the institution's needs.

8. Ensures overall supervisory responsibility for the College's data and voice communications technologies.

9. Guide the development of the College's Information Technology Master Plan, in support of the College's strategic plan; establishes and reviews long range planning, goals and priorities for Computing Services resources and services. Ensure that the plan is communicated to the College community and executed in a timely manner.

10. Plan, evaluate, and expedite the purchase, replacement and upgrade of hardware, software and networking/telecommunications components to ensure successful operations.

11. Prepare reports on Computing Services operations, budget items, proposals, and other associated items as needed.

12. Implement procedures for communicating Computing Services information to the college community.

13. Remain current in best practices related to all areas of information technology.

14. Ensure the College is in compliance with federal, state, NSHE, and accreditation requirements as applicable to information technology.

15. Represent the college to Nevada System of Higher Education in all matters related to information technology.

16. Serve on college and system committees.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.
