Director of Development and Communications
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors; experience in fundraising; demonstrated expertise in written and oral communication; Understanding of community and education, a plus; proficiency in using fundraising databases (Raisers Edge) and back end user experiences.
REPORTS TO: Head of School / Principal
CHARACTERISTICS/ ATTRIBUTES: Excellent representative of the School to the public; ability to work with parents, school staff, and potential donors; enthusiasm about promoting and raising funds for NPES, planning, organizational and project management skills; strong interpersonal skills and follow through; excellent communication skills, both speaking and writing; detail oriented; along with strong technology skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development

Develops, implements and manages a comprehensive annual development plan that includes fundraising (specifically, annual giving, capital campaigns, special projects, and other school-related solicitations), special events, parent relations, and alumni relations

Leads and / or supports capital campaign execution at all stages

Manages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship

Organizes major fundraising events including the Fall Cook-Off, Winter Auction, and Spring Fun Run.

Conducts yearly analysis of funds raised and develop strategies to increase giving

Generates development reports for the Board

Conducts all gift reporting, acknowledgment, and data management

Maintains Raiser’s Edge donor database

Establishes gift policies and guidelines

Maintains contact with and develop grant proposals for foundations and institutional partners as appropriate, in alignment with strategic initiatives

Oversees the volunteer based Development Committee
Communications and Marketing

Manages the school’s website w / School Office Manager and the Director of Technology

Lead staff in coordination with PR and marketing consultants
-
Creates content calendar for social media tools and implements social media strategy
-
Produces and disseminates all communication from school including Shark Bites, e-newsletters, Annual Reports, brochures, and other informational materials
-
Develops and implements comprehensive internal and external communication plans to convey the value of NPES to various constituencies

Implements marketing plan as described by Marketing Committee

Oversees the volunteer based Marketing Committee
General

Organizes special events such as VIP Day, Street Fairs, New Parent Orientation, Shark Jam, and others that arise throughout the year

Participates in admissions efforts such as Admissions Coffees

Creates annual school wide calendar

Collaborates with Moms’ and Dads’ Clubs
-
Coordinates volunteers for special events and general activities
-
Develops and maintains the alumni database, including demographic information and giving history
-
Creates an Alumni Association and engages alumni with NPES
-
Takes photos for social-media
-
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and Board of Directors
