Director of Educational Technology & Innovation
St. John’s Episcopal School, an independent Episcopal school in Rancho Santa Margarita for students 8 weeks old through 8th Grade, seeks a qualified Director of Educational Technology and Innovation to join its community.

Purpose:
To develop and implement the vision for educational technology at St. John’s, and support an environment in which innovation, professional development, and intentional best-practices for educating K-8 students are fostered in support of all Cardinals’ learning. To partner with the Head of School, Division Principals, and Director of Information Technology to manage the technology infrastructure, curriculum, and classroom tools to support student learning, while providing instructional and technical support to students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Primary Responsibilities:
Foster the strategic vision for effective use of technology in the classroom and around campus, as well as assessing and reporting on all aspects of technology as related to the SJES Mission and Strategic Plan.

Provide dynamic leadership, vision, and direction for campus-wide educational technology applications, initiatives, and support services.

Develop and implement a K-8 Technology Skills Guide in partnership with grade-level teachers and principals to best support SJES learning outcomes.

Develop and implement an academic technology plan with focus on teacher training and professional development to foster innovation within our STEAM-based program.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to work towards strategic goals that can be addressed by instructional technology and innovative solutions.

Partner with Division Principals to assess faculty and student technology competency levels; identify and assist with programming and interventions that help students achieve necessary mastery of technology skills.

Manage the SJES one-to-one device programs and their impact in student learning (BYOD in Middle Division; Chromebooks in Upper Elementary; iPads in Lower Elementary).

Develop, coordinate, and assess training programs and professional development related to new and updated systems, procedures, and applications for learning.

Analyze, research, organize, and supervise technology-related projects.

Collaborate with the school administration to identify and solicit external funding sources for academic technology initiatives.

Research and forecast trends, products, equipment, etc., to make recommendations for system enhancements, long-term strategic planning, technical needs, and classroom learning enhancements related to technology.

Strong candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

Continued education and/or a Master’s degree in educational technology, computer science, information technology, or related field.

Minimum of five years progressive experience in information or instructional technology with a proven ability to successfully lead and direct projects and change. Experience in a school environment is preferred.

Able to read, analyze, interpret, and apply complex technical information.

Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate technical information to all stakeholders of the school.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong coaching and customer service focus, user-oriented attitude, and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.

Highly ethical team player with a good sense of humor.

High energy, self-starter with ability to prioritize and multi-task in an atmosphere in which time sensitive deadlines are the norm, along with interruptions which require adaptability and optimism
