Director of Information Technology
Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Department Administrator of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Director of Information Technology will be responsible to manage, operate, and maintain computing and telecommunication devices, equipment, and services that meet the needs of the administrative, educational, and research programs of the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Accordingly, the Director is charged with strategic planning and operational decision-making to fulfill the mission of the Information Technology Department.
Responsibilities:
- Has oversight of the Departments Information Technology unit, including staff, space, and equipment.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Overseeing the Departments Information Technology finances, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts
- Manages daily operations and creates efficiencies by establishing staff coverage schemes, implementing a ticketing resource system and track work productivity.
- Develops and maintains working relationship with all Columbia/NY Presbyterian Hospital related central technology services, including network, IT security, and telecommunication.
- Serve as functional lead in the development and implementation of the integrated EHR (Epic) with ColumbiaDoctors and New York Presbyterian.
- Collaborates with web-design department to develop and strengthen both department's web-based applications, including the Sharepoint based intranet.
- Identifying security vulnerabilities and eliminating them with strategic solutions that increase data security.
- Coordinating IT activities to ensure data availability and network services with as little downtime as necessary
- Ensures that all department owned servers, applications and storage systems are certified according to security guidelines mandated by the CUMC Information Technology security.
- Ensures technology documents/certificates for product registrations, maintenance agreements, and service contracts are evaluated, up to date and processed.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years' management experience in an IT environment
2+ years' experience working with EMR/EHR systems (EPIC Preferred)
