Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, the Director of Information Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organization, integration, implementation, and maintenance of all IT functions at the district. S/he will work closely with Curriculum & Instruction staff in the development and implementation of various curriculum-based initiatives to integrate technology into the instructional program. 

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Develop a strategic and long-range technology plan for the district
  • Manage and maintain student information system (SIS) database including security, data integrity, and backups
  • Oversee training and technical support to end users of the SIS
  • Oversee state reporting (CALPADS)
  • Manage and maintain LASDk8 Google domain
  • Coordinate repair services as needed
  • Gather and maintain inventories of computer equipment and software
  • Administer online programs for productivity and curriculum
  • Coordinate district web site platform in collaboration with web masters
  • Provide leadership to school technology specialists and hold meetings and training sessions as needed
  • Provide for training of individual employees and/or groups on computer and software programs as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Provide leadership, vision, and day-to-day management of the IT department.
  • Provide support to the network administrator to maintain data network and backup systems, firewall and security issues, databases, servers, and printers. Ensure that documentation on the above systems is up to date.
  • Supervise personnel in the IT department.
  • Maintain an active role in the local and state technology community

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (information technology, computer science, systems management, or related discipline)
  • Professional technical certifications from Microsoft, Apple, Cisco, etc., preferred
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems
  • Current knowledge of network architecture, wireless, and cloud technologies
  • Experience with SQL and JavaScript preferred
  • Experience with PowerSchool administration preferred
  • Strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Problem-solver with a high degree of diplomacy
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team
  • Experience with both Apple and PC platforms
  • Valid California driver’s license
