Director, Information Technology
Job Summary
The Director of Information Management Services leads a team of 12 who provide technical and database support for the Office of Development and the Office of Alumni Affairs which, combined, comprise nearly 200 staff. The Director, IMS, sets the vision for the department, and leads the planning and execution of all systems, hardware, and software implementation and support, as well as data reporting. The Director serves as the senior IT representative for Development and Alumni Affairs on University committees, and is the primary point of contact for IT communications between Development/Alumni Affairs and the Office of the CIO.
Among the Director's responsibilities are leading and ensuring high levels of service and monitoring performance against service level agreements; providing leadership and management of a team of database administrators, business analysts, technical support staff, programmers, and administrative support staff; participating in preparation of RFPs for systems and in the assessment of prospective new systems that support Alumni and Development functions through data management, data security, report writing, and overall customer relationship management; leading teams in system conversions, implementations, and upgrades, facilitating user involvement and ensuring adequate communication; overseeing procurement and selection of IT resources; directing technology development, including IT architectures, hardware and software platforms, networking, system administration, information security, specialized applications, web, and multimedia technologies; establishing and managing the annual departmental budget; recommending/establishing IT policies/procedures and services; coordinating on-call support for designated systems and services; and leading crisis management in the event of system failure.
The Director reports jointly to the Vice Presidents for Development and Alumni Relations, and has a dotted-line report to the Office of the CIO.

Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience working in management, project planning, and budgeting with progressively increasing levels of
responsibility and accountability. Must have 2 years experience directly supervising full-time employees.
Knowledge of information technology principles and applications, computer system management methodologies, and new technologies. Knowledge of principles and practices of leadership, motivation, team building, and conflict resolution. Knowledge of modern office practices, methods and computer equipment. Knowledge of budgeting procedures and techniques.

Desired Qualifications
Seven years of experience in a higher education development/alumni relations office. Experience participating in the implementation of a donor records system in higher education, as well as in IT strategic planning. Knowledge of philanthropy in the higher education environment, as well as the principles of meaningful alumni engagement. Experience with donor records systems in the higher education arena. Demonstrated experience successfully leading and managing teams, and effectively mentoring and coaching multiple direct reports. Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing. The desire and ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Ability to juggle competing demands on time and resources, and the energy to work in a fast-paced, demanding setting.
