Director of Infrastructure & Technology Support
Summary
The Director of Infrastructure & Technology Support provides leadership for planning and managing the information technology activities of the IT Infrastructure and Client team within the information technology department. Supervises the Assistant Director of IT Support Services. This position supports the organization’s mission by providing quality IT services to meet the current and future information technology requirements of LCCC’s faculty, staff and students in support of the mission of the College. The position is responsible for managing, planning and directing a modern reliable secure scalable IT environment. This includes the Infrastructure of the campus backbone network, wide area network serving off campus programs and Data Centers operations. Also responsible to ensure that Client Services solutions are centrally managed, updated and engineered as solutions. Local travel and on-call escalation support is required. Reports to the CIO.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for the IT Infrastructure & Client Solutions (ITIC) team. Develops and implements the overall strategy for ITIC in support of IT’s mission. Develops, implements, and evaluates service goals and policies. Anticipates developments in the field, in order to support continuous improvement.
- Provides support, direction and guidance to ITIC team members, supervising and coordinating their activities and assisting team members in reaching their potential performance levels. Manages team interactions to obtain optimal team and department performance.
- Coordinates and directs the work efforts for the client, server and network staff responsible for planning designing, installing, and maintaining all aspects of the College’s technical infrastructure that includes the backbone architecture, enterprise fiber optic network, wide area networks, local area networks, telecommunications systems, the Data Centers and network nodes. This is accomplished to provide a secure, modern, reliable, continuous, cost effective 24 hour 7 day operational Data Center that is the backbone of the College’s enterprise systems, in coordination with all IT teams.
- Develops and implements complete project schedules to ensure required dates are met. Must be able to generate and manage detailed projects. Plans and establish timelines to ensure milestones are achieved using industry standard tools. Ensure that progress is reported and made with both projects and other department/college initiatives pertaining to the enterprise infrastructure and the strategic goals of the College.
- Assists in the improvement of internal Project Management best practices and Project Management Institute methodology and procedures.
- Administers security of all network components and supports the implementation of new security products and services for the college; serves as College’s designated IT Security Officer. Responsible to develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures to minimize the College data security risks.
- Works with other teams within the IT Department and with critical customers across the College to understand their unique IT challenges and needs, developing plans and strategies for meeting these customer expectations. Maintains close contact with the user community to ensure needs and expectations are being met.
- Provides vision, guidance, and advice on technology issues to the Information Technology department, the College, and various committees and projects.
- Assists in the strategic planning for the future of information technology across the College and revising the technology refresh plan annually.
- Serves as a member of various College planning/advisory groups and committees as requested.
- Prepares department budgets and monitors expenses. Provides input and assists in preparing the annual information technology budget for the college.
- Maintains accurate inventory of all datacenter, network and client devices owned by the College.
- Provides leadership.
- Sets goals and objectives for individuals and work group. Motivates and mentors individuals and work groups to meet objectives. Fosters an environment for collaborative teamwork. Performs employee appraisals.
- Develops and maintains an operations manual for this position.
- Performs other duties as required in support of the IT Department or assigned by the Executive Director of Information Technology.
Qualifications
Required:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Clearances
- Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Cogent Clearance Fingerprinting)
Work Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience managing and directing the enterprise infrastructure needs of mid-sized business environment with client/network/systems engineering staff and a mid-sized data center.
- Must have strong management skills and the ability to oversee a diverse team, coordinate work, and plan for the future. Expertise in managing short- and long-term projects.
- Must be familiar with a variety of data/voice communications architectures and state-of-the art computing center practices.
- Must have experience leading and directing technical staff in a collaborative team’s environment to achieve goals.
- Must have demonstrated organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Must have experience with project planning, prioritizing assignments, establishing work schedules, meeting deadlines and working in project groups.

Preferred:
- Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
- Bilingual
- Educational setting experience serving the mission of the community college.
