Director of IT Infrastructure
Designs and implements the strategy for the network reconfiguration universitywide, as well as integrates technology solutions in alignment with the university's short and long term strategic objectives, including recommending, developing and implementing process improvements, procedures and best practices related to the information technology infrastructure
Essential Job Functions

Establishes and executes a compatible enterprise-wide infrastructure and architectural plan aligned to the short and long term strategic goals of the university

Directs the strategy development, oversees the implementation and budget for the network reconfiguration universitywide including disaster recovery and systems availability

Oversees the university support structure to maintain defined service levels of networks, servers, workstations, operating systems, telecommunications and system software, resulting in stable, scalable and secure environments that are maintained utilizing project management standards, as well as, project governance and release management disciplines

Manages the utilization of data center, cloud infrastructure and backup sites, including preparing, maintaining and testing technology for disaster recovery

Manages the configuration of JWU technology components maintaining standardization across the platforms universitywide

Oversees the production support environment

Manages the university network, ensuring stability, band width capacity and network speed

Oversees storage, servers, email production and digital services network infrastructure

Works in collaboration with information security to align departmental activities and maintain system availability, security of university data and information, as well as, discovering, mitigating and documenting information technology risks

Works with university departments to ensure IT infrastructure adherence to JWU policies; in support of the above, develops and maintains departmental procedures and standards

Manages the successful delivery of infrastructure project support initiatives in accordance with project governance priorities and project management disciplines

Establishes a process to manage vendor relationships to streamline costs and develop vendor partnerships

Oversees infrastructure components inventory utilizing lifecycle asset management methods and tools, and effective change management processes, as well as maintaining, evaluating and updating appropriate technology documents and certificates

Researches and provides analyzed data on trends in new technologies, including storage architecture, capacity and response time

Oversees telecommunications expenses including land lines, VOIP, mobile devices and data

Prepares and monitors departmental budget including preparing monthly variance and forecasts

Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures

Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree

Significant amount of experience working in information technology infrastructure management and project management or in other related work
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in information technology, computer science or a related field of study
