Director of Learning Technology
Position Description: The Director of Learning Technology will coordinate the planning, production and delivery of distance education courses and integration of learning technologies into the College's instructional delivery system and maintain the College's internal and external web sites.
Reports To: Vice President for Instruction
Position Status: Administrative, Exempt, Full-Time, 37.5 hrs/wk, 12 Months per year
Classification/Points: Administrative Level B

Provide multi-media, instructional design and technical support services to the College’s full-time and adjunct faculty for the integration of computers, learning technology, and software into existing courses.
Provide individual technical support to full-time and adjunct faculty in the design, development, and delivery of online, hybrid, and video conferencing courses.
Provide e-mail, video conference, and phone support for distance learners and faculty.
Manage, maintain and upgrade the College’s learning content management software/hardware system as needed.
Manage and coordinate the learning content management system licensing and pricing.
Provide direction and leadership for emerging learning technologies and online instructional systems.
Conduct appropriate learning technology training programs for all college staff as directed.
Manage and maintain the college’s internal and external web services and content as needed.
Participate in committee assignments, and departmental outreach/recruitment activities.
Maintain a high level of academic and technological competency through staff development activities.
Coordinate the College’s distance education initiatives with appropriate state and national organizations.
Develop and maintain technical support publications and communications as related to learning technology.
Provide leadership, support, and training for the College’s video conferencing system.
Provide supervision to the Learning Technology Technician.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Instruction.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises and provides direction to Learning Technology Technician.
Expected Hours of Work: The normal workday for full-time employees shall be seven and one-half (7 ½) consecutive hours per day. The normal workweek shall be thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½) hours per week, Monday through Friday. Daily starting and ending time shall be established by the College Executive Council or its designee. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, crouch, talk or hear. Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Instructional Development Technology or related discipline required.
Documented evidence of technical expertise involved with technology in an educational setting, especially in distance learning production and faculty support environments is required.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in current software applications, including online programs is preferred.
Higher education teaching experience, especially in a community college setting, is desired.
