Director of Libraries and Information Services

The City of Newport News, Virginia is currently recruiting for a Director of Libraries and Information Services. The ideal candidate will work to continue a long legacy of outstanding leadership and management. Working as a strategic partner with the City’s senior leadership team this future forward leader will work to take both the department and the City to the next level. The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited library school, 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing a library system as well as Certification as a Professional Librarian by the Virginia State Board for the Certification of Librarians. The City offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate to include benefits. City residence is required within a year of hire, with a full relocation package available.
