The Director of Marketing & Communications is a senior member of the advancement team and reports directly to the Head of School.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the creation, design, and execution of all school publications and online platforms and coordinate all outreach strategies to ensure clarity and consistency in branding, messaging and positioning.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive, integrated communications and marketing strategy that focuses on short-term and long-term initiatives, including an annual communications and marketing calendar with production schedules, press outreach, website development, and other vehicles that target specific constituents. 
  • Oversee the creation, design, budget, and production of regularly produced email and print publications to help the admissions department promote the school, communicate to parents and other constituents about school events and initiatives, and aid the development department in fundraising.
  • Act as creative director and lead editor for a variety of marketing materials produced both in house and in collaboration with external designers. Marketing materials include emails, web content, social media content, signage, brochures, posters, postcards, etc. 
  • Maintain communications budget. 
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate all advertising, publicity, and public relations and serve as the School’s spokesperson. 
  • Create and communicate a compelling story and consistent messaging about Hannah Senesh to advance admissions applications and support the efforts of Development. 
  • Manage, edit, and update website content, improving website readability, accessibility, and SEO.
  • Manage, monitor, and produce content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, listservs and other social media channels.
  • Develop, create, and edit original photo and video content.
  • Write letters, reports, and other communications for Head of School, Board Chair, and other leadership.
  • Provide "back end" data management for website, analyze web and social media metrics, and produce reports for leadership, as needed.
  • Fulfill a range of other communication duties as assigned, including, but not limited to: project management, photography, collateral design, videography, and helping other staff at admissions, development, and general school events.

 

Qualities and Criteria Include:

  • 10+ years experience in communications and marketing
  • Experience at a school or nonprofit organization is a plus
  • Experience in branding, messaging, and communications strategy required
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or nonprofit management preferred
  • Interest in working in a fast paced school environment 
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends at school events
  • Ability to multi task, prioritize, and stay calm under pressure
  • A team player who takes initiative and is flexible
  • Excellent communications and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in digital communication, up on latest trends and willing to learn new trends
  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills 
  • Graphic design and web development skills, with an eye for good design
  • Attention to detail
