The Agnes Irwin School seeks a Director of Middle & Upper School STEAM Innovation for the 2016-17 academic year. This will be a full-time position, and will be responsible for leading the Middle & Upper Schools’ programmatic and instructional design toward a dynamic, creative, student-centered model, aligned with the School’s strategic vision and the teaching and learning pillar of the Center for the Advancement for Girls. The primary functions of this position will encompass four, distinct areas of responsibility:

Faculty Engagement
• Serve as a catalyst, coach and collaborator in order to make middle and upper school STEAM teachers’ innovative ideas reality in the classroom
• Serve as a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee and collaborate with teachers on implementing that committee’s recommendations in the STEAM classrooms
• Coach teachers on planning and delivering innovative projects, as well as project timelining, tool selection, and assessment
• Provide effective support to classroom teachers on issues of technology hardware and software use
• Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities for faculty and individual learning opportunities for students

Program Development
• Develop and manage the Innovation Center, including selecting and managing supplies, creating opportunities for student engagement, and managing the room schedule
• Collaborate with Middle and Upper School teachers to imagine and deliver innovative curricular units in STEAM fields
• Partner with Middle and Upper School teachers on the successful integration of LocoRobo and other coding efforts in the classroom
• Advise independent student research in STEAM fields and teach research seminars as needed

Distributed Leadership for Innovation
• Collaborate with the other members of the Innovation Team to ensure cross-divisional and pedagogical cohesion with regard to program, assessment, and tool selection
• Collaborate with other members of the Innovation Team to create and sustain institutional partnerships to provide real-world learning opportunities for students in all three divisions
• Meet regularly, as part of the Innovation Team, with the Program Team to ensure program alignment in all parts of the Schoo
l
Technology Support
• Assist with maintenance of classroom iOS devices
• Research, evaluate, and select hardware and software for faculty and student use as part of the Innovation Team

The successful candidate will possess:
• Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree or equivalent degree preferred
• Mastery in mathematics, science, or computer science content
• A keen understanding of the contribution of Arts in Innovation
• Knowledge of and experience with best practices in maker and constructivist education
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach middle and high school students
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty on multi-step and complex projects in a calm and positive manner and problem-solve when needed
• A high level of self-motivation when working independently
• Experience with Mac and Windows operating systems, Google Apps for Education, BlackBaud OnCampus and various software, hardware and peripherals for classroom use
