Position Purpose: Sheridan School seeks a knowledgeable, creative, and proactive individual to fill the role of Director of Technology. The Director of Technology is a member of the senior administrative team responsible for all information technology at the School. This includes the planning, procurement, installation, maintenance, and support of computers,networks, software, phones and all digital infrastructure. The Director works with faculty and administration in selection and use of technology in the classroom or office, and is an instructional resource for the teaching of technology. The Technology Department is both academic and support-oriented, responsive as well as proactive in providing technology to support all functions of the School. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Director is responsible for coordinating electronic communication to families, data security and information retention. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Align school IT functions to the needs of the School and strategic plan

  • Establish a vision for technology that advances teaching and learning

  • Develop the technology skills of students and staff

  • Plan and budget to create a technology environment that is reliable and innovative

  • Work with Academic Leadership and faculty to integrate technology into the curriculum

  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity in the School's technology ecosystem for improvement

  • Oversee core IT functions of:    

    • Network Administration

    • Printing

    • Student and Faculty Hardware Management

    • Web Content Management

    • Mobile App Management

    • Enterprise Application Support

    • Productivity Suite Administration

    • Data Loss and Prevention

    • PCI Compliance

    • Assistive Learning Technologies

    • VoIP Telephone System

  • Supervise and support the Assistant Director of Technology

  • Provide support on an as needed basis to the Board of Trustees

 

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Necessary:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, or other relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience

  • Five (5) years of technology experience preferably in an educational environment. Proven knowledge in GSuite administration, Google Apps, chromebooks, Chrome OS, macbooks, Ipads, OSX, OSI model, network administration and wireless networks

  • Successful project management skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Experience in effectively managing large operating and capital budgets

  • Some light lifting and carrying

  • Knowledge of MDM (Jamf, etc.), Apple configurator, Linux, HTML, CSS, ;Javascript, Python, Wordpress Scratch or robotics a plus
