Qualifications:

  • Certified educational administrator preferred, not mandated

  • Civil Service titles considered

  • Evidence of successful teaching and administrative experience preferred

  • Evidence of strong leadership skills that increase the ability of all constituents to do their jobs in a more efficient and competent way.

  • Proficiency and/or experience in instructional technology integration, ISTE standards, and use of technology to enhance student learning

AND/OR

  • Proficiency and/or experience related to technical support of computer technology and network infrastructure

Reports to:

  • K-12 Directors of Instruction

 

Supervision/Evaluation:

  • Computer Services staff members (including direct supervision of network technicians and help desk manager)

  • K-12 Library Media Specialists

  • Technology Integration TOSA's

  • Seasonal technology deployment assistance, including student interns, co-op students or temporary hires

 

Leadership:

  • Take the lead and the initiative in developing long-range plans for technology acquisitions tied to the education of our students based on West Irondequoit's unique structure for curriculum, assessment and instructional practice as well as NY State expectations for technology integration and assessment. Enhance these areas and support increased student learning through leadership with technology and instruction.

  • Collaborate in a highly effective manner with not only other leadership staff members, but also teachers, staff, students and parents in order to lead technology integration and technology education throughout K-12 classrooms.

  • Work with building and district administrators and teachers to assess and update district's five-year technology plan in order to integrate this plan with the instructional expectations of the District.

  • Coordinate initiatives between Computer Services and the Office of Instruction to ensure seamless implementation of district instructional goals related to technology, consistent with instructional needs

    • Utilize outside resources like business and industry leaders, conferences, and other educational leaders to keep abreast of the trends in technology.

    • Locate and secure outside resources to help further the goals of the technology plan.

    • Disseminate information to end users about emerging applications of technology and programs and policies in the district.

  • Continuously re-evaluate a needs assessment of network, devices, software, cloud computing, and staffing related to technology

  • Re-evaluate quality assurance for network operations and customer service for all  schools and departments

 

Integration

  • Work with teachers and administrators to implement and update K-12 technology integration standards so they are in line with the District's instructional blueprint.

  • Coordinate with school leadership staff on school- and curriculum-specific technology, classroom needs assessments, and device deployment in order to enhance and sustain a quality 1 to 1 technology initiative and improved student academic achievement.

 

Instructional Data Management

  • Coordinate the facilitation of all NYS and Federal School System data reporting and data management demands, in conjunction with the Information Systems team.

  • Coordinate with Curriculum and Instruction leadership staff to support the management, analysis, and dissemination of all instructional data pertinent to improving academic performance

 

Program Management:

  • Approval of all devices and electronic resources, web-based subscriptions, databases, and software

  • Schedule and facilitate Computer Services Department meetings (including Library/Media department meetings)

  • Support the leadership of any Technology Integration meetings

  • Participate in other district-level technology meetings and activities

  • Coordinate the districts use of BOCES educational computing services. Monitor the implementation of the CoSer.

  • Continually review, revise and ensure compliance with district acceptable use policies, data/student privacy and copyright laws.

  • Attend both County Data Manager and County Technology Director meetings to support continued leadership and trends

 

Professional Development:

  • Coordinate professional development for technology TOSA's in order to maximize the appropriate use of instructional technology in classrooms.

  • Work with the leadership staff to ensure high-quality training and application of skills for all staff involved in instructional technology implementation
