Gill St. Bernard’s School, an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory day school for students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, located in Gladstone, New Jersey, is searching for a new Director of Technology.  The Director of Technology reports to the Head of School and has overall responsibility for technology at the school.  Applicants should possess significant relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree; a graduate degree is a plus.  The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and team building skills, experience in a school leadership position, excellent management and organizational skills, and a sense of humor.

 

Primary Function:  The Director of Technology reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Administrative Team. This position oversees the all aspects of technology for the school. Decisions about operational technology, budgetary allocations, key software technology use, educational technology and related professional development are guided by this position. The Director also supervises department personnel, gives vision to the school’s academic technology initiatives, supports the school data systems, and works with the school’s leadership to ensure technology on campus forwards the school’s mission and strategic plan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage department staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, and professional development.
  • Plan for and manage the technology budget.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to garner input and guidance to technology initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and organization to the Technology Department’s daily operations.
  • Oversee negotiations regarding vendors, outsourced work, consultants, etc. for service agreements.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for the data team, including management of the overall Blackbaud system and administrative support for data driven decision making.
  • Oversee the management of cloud based services for work and instruction (including but not limited to Office 365, LMS, Accelerated Reader, Destiny, Pickatime, Turnitin)
  • Provide guidance and support for development of a Student Technology Team.
  • Chair the school’s Technology Committee which provides input and guidance to technology initiatives.
  • Seek opportunities to expand the school’s technology program, including funding through grants, collaboration with higher education and corporate organizations.
  • Promote appropriate technology use with the goal that all members of the school community use technology ethically and securely to enhance learning and life.
