Tilton School, an independent, secondary school in the Lakes Region, has an immediate opening for a Director of Technology. The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of technology in support of the school’s strategic vision and mission statement; reports to the Head of School, and is a member of the Leadership Team, Learning Leaders, and Safety Committee. Candidates must hold, or be willing to acquire in the first year, the Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Tilton School approaches teaching, learning and living through the Mastery Approach. The Mastery Approach is a customized learning process that incorporates the best educational practices using authentic, purposeful investigations, guided self-reflection, and honest, thoughtful feedback designed for a student to assess and grow their aptitudes, skills, interests, and strengths. It is not a one-size-fits-all model. Nor does it occur just in the classroom, but in every aspect of life at Tilton.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program

  • Oversee the integration of hardware, software and other digital resources in support of student learning and campus operations
  • Oversee and manage all school databases and the bridges between them
  • Assist the faculty to meet state and national standards for subject-area and technology-learning objectives
  • Coordinate with the Academic Dean to ensure that technology assets and resources support the learning programs of the School
  • Oversee applications and proposals to submit to fund-granting authorities, including but not limited to E-Rate
  • Work with the Academic Dean and Learning Leaders to grow the academic offerings related to computer science, technology, and STEM

Personnel

  • Attend conferences, workshop, seminars and other events in order to stay current with current and emerging technologies and best practices
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate technology training and development programs for the faculty and staff in order to meet defined technology proficiency goals
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of learning and support resources for faculty, staff and students.  These may include websites, tutorials, interactive programs and databases that support the faculty in integrating technology
  • Oversee and recommend professional development opportunities for Technology Office staff to keep abreast of the rapid changes in technology and its use in education
  • Supervises and evaluates the Technology Office staff
  • Assist in the hiring process for all employees to ensure proper technological skills

Administrative

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Technology Office and the responsibilities of the Network Systems Manager and Technology Support Specialist
  • Plan, develop, and oversee the Technology Office budget
  • Review and approve all technology purchases, regardless of funding source, to assure appropriateness, quality, and compatibility
  • Develop, review, and update all school policies related to technology including the AUPs, data retention policies, data security, etc.
  • Develop, review, and update the Technology, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity plans
  • Work with all programs and departments to analyze and improve processes for most the efficient use of technology
  • Review reports of hardware and software use, malfunction, and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan operating changes and upgrades
  • Coordinate vendor services to provide needed technology solutions and maintain positive relations
  • Create connections with the local, state, and national educational communities to continually advance the school’s reputation as a leader in the educational market 
  • Create connections with local public and municipal organizations to advance the school’s reputation as a resource for the local community and its residents
