Director of Technology
Saint Paul’s School is currently seeking a full-time Director of Technology who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school's technology infrastructure and also manage all academic and administrative technology systems. The Director will have excellent communication skills and the ability to support and collaborate with faculty, students, staff and parents of varied technical skills. The Director of Technology will also be charged with strategic planning for all future tech endeavors at the school.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate and establish technology best practices, policies, and procedures across the School’s many departments, including IT planning and the budgeting process
- Maintain vendor relationships and compare bids for technology-related projects
- Coach and develop all technology staff
- Manage cyber-security and IT disaster recovery for the School
- Administer and maintain all network devices (routers, switches, wireless devices, etc.)
- Administer and maintain the School’s wireless system through Meru/ Fortinet
- Evaluates customer satisfaction levels through Technology Related Surveys and other forms of feedback
- Supporting all constituents on Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technology issues
- Maintain internal DNS, Caching, and Print Servers
- Manages the installation and maintenance of hardware and software including personal workstations, labs, printers, multimedia displays, projectors, video conference
- Establishes and enforces end-user policies, procedures, and standards for use and acquisition of technology (i.e., internet policy, network usage, security control)
- Assess and report on all aspects of technology related to the educational goals of the school
- Maintain hardware and software inventories including licensing and securing of software media
- Actively participate in leading, supporting, training, and assisting staff and faculty in utilizing a variety of hardware and software
- Manage Email and calendaring service with Google Apps for Education
- Manage and support the school's Student Information System and Learning Management System.
PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
Bachelor’s Degree is required. Masters degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with degrees in an IT-related environment such as computing, communication, management, or business. Preference will be given to a candidate bringing a deep understanding of K-12 academic and administrative culture, mission and goals which may be evidenced by leading IT in a K-12 or higher education environment or corporation which serves education.
- Expert knowledge of Cloud technologies including Google G Suite
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and related services including LDAP, IMAP, SMTP, VPN and DNS
- Advanced knowledge of desktop computers, specifically Apple OS and hardware, and peripherals.
- Knowledge in Apple School Manager, VPP
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office, JAMF Casper Cloud system, patch management, anti-malware, desktop/laptop imaging, anti-virus, and inventory management tools.
- Working knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting iOS-based mobile devices.
- Ability to motivate the team to adhere to IT best practices and deliver outstanding customer service and satisfaction to students, their parents, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment, manage user expectations and potential risks.
- Strong customer service orientation, good written and oral communication skills, keen attention to details with a strategic and holistic mindset, self-motivated, and directed.
- Intellectual flexibility, technical curiosity, a sense of humor, and the ability to learn independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
SALARY, BENEFITS, AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- This is a full-time, 12-month position, with occasional night time or evening work
- Salary is commensurate with experience
