Director of Technology
The Baldwin School seeks a Director of Technology. Reporting to the CFO and Dean of Innovation and Systems, the Director of Educational Technology serves as a leader of School technology initiatives that support the academic program. Additionally, he or she serves as a point person for technology infrastructure and systems both for the academic program and the administrative work that supports the School.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Actively support the School’s mission in the execution of his/her role and responsibilities.

Provides leadership and vision for educational technology initiatives within the School.

Directs the work of the Tech Team in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and security of all network components including servers, switches, Wi-Fi, firewall.

Directs the work of the Tech Team in proactive planning, inventory, and maintenance for classroom and administrative hardware including computers, tablets, televisions, projectors, printers, copiers, telephone systems.

Directs a responsive and proactive Tech Team to support the work of all School constituents with high quality, timely assistance.

Manages all aspects of Tech Team staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, professional development, and evaluation, and provides backup for Tech Team staff, as needed.

Supports alignment of databases and programs, including but not limited to Blackbaud (SMS, Raiser’s Edge), PowerSchool Learning (LMS), GSuite for Education.

Assists in setting, reviewing, and updating technology policies, procedures, and processes in areas including security, network access, purchasing, risk management, disaster recovery.

With the Dean for Innovation and Systems, works with Division Directors and Department Chairs to support identified academic technology needs, including hardware, programs, integration, and training.

With Dean for Innovation and Systems, plans for the deployment and integration of technology applications across the School.

Provides professional development and technical curriculum assistance for Faculty, in areas including device usage, software applications, and the general instructional use of technology.

Provides professional development activities to support staff members in their use of administrative technology applications

Assists in the onboarding and training of new faculty, administration, and students to optimize device usage within the guidelines of the school’s Responsible Use Policy.

Collaborates with the CFO to develop and manage the School’s overall technology budget and to manage vendor relations, procurement, installation, and implementation of information systems.

Researches and evaluates new and emerging educational technologies that align with the School’s academic mission.

Builds and maintains a professional network through regular participation in local, regional, and national technology associations.
Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.

Strong understanding and technical knowledge in areas of IT security, network components, computer operating systems, protocols and standards.

Expertise in Apple Hardware, Mac OS and iPad OS software, learning management systems, and G Suite for Education.

Strong interest and experience in the pedagogy of technology integration.

Ability to work independently, plan proactively, manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate in a proactive, responsive, and professional manner.

Strong budgeting skills with the ability to plan strategically and cost effectively and prioritize resources.
Preferred background

Network Plus certification

Citrix certification
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s degree preferred.

Five+ years of experience in educational technology.

Three+ years of experience as a classroom teacher, preferably in an independent school.

Demonstrated evidence of curricular innovation.
-
Supervisory and team leadership experience.
