Job Description

Hillside seeks a dynamic and forward thinking candidate for the position of Director of Information Technology.  As the leader in the development of innovative technologies that support teaching, learning, student life and administrative operations, the Director will possess in-depth technical expertise and will provide strategic leadership, planning, and management to all areas of information technology. The Director will develop and oversee campus-wide technology policies, procedures, services and facilities. The Director will work collaboratively with academic leadership to develop effective strategies for integrating technology into the curriculum. Qualified candidates will have a passion for technology and education, and proven leadership, management, and decision making skills. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and customer service skills. College degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years of technology management experience required. A+ certification or equivalent experience required, Network+ certification preferred. Experience in an educational setting, as well as experience with Blackbaud, Microsoft Office, Google apps for Education and Windows Server preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role in developing and implementing the Hillside’s technology plan

  • Manage technical budget

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the School’s network, servers, printers, databases and other equipment and ensure availability to all authorized users

  • Be a leader in the development of innovative technologies that support teaching, learning, student life and administrative operations. Evaluate computing requirements and user needs, advise on appropriate hardware and software configurations

  • Install and configure computing hardware (desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, printers, etc.), software, A/V equipment, and network cabling

  • Troubleshoot and correct problems that our community members encounter when using technology

  • Train our community in the effective use of the technologies we provide

  • Manage student iPad program

  • Support and collaborate with the Dean of Academics in the use of innovative new educational technologies in the curriculum

  • Manage the overall acquisition of hardware and software. Maintain accurate inventories.  Establish guidelines for sharing equipment campus-wide

  • Write and update service documentation, propose and implement process improvements

  • Negotiate and monitor related contracts with outside vendors and agencies

  • Assure the security and validity of School information through development of security procedures

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with those you support including faculty, administrators, students and parents

  • Express ideas clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent customer service skills, pleasant and outgoing personality essential.

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking and related technologies including: Fortigate, VPNs, UniFi APs, Datto Backups and, ActiveDirectory Windows Server 2008/2012

  • Experience with educational administrative systems such as, Blackbaud, Microsoft Office, and Google Apps for Education, Office365, etc.
